"Ray Irving Horton Sr., 53, a native of St. Elmo, Ala., for the past 31 years, died Friday at his home. Horton and his family owned and operated Marine Builders Inc. He was in the Navy during the Korean conflict. Horton was a member of the Masonic Shrine, Scottish Rite, and the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Partridge Horton of Mobile; a daughter Joyce Newhill of Pensacola, Fla.; three sons - Irving Horton, Jimmy Horton and Steven Horton, all of Theodore; his parents, Norman and Edris Horton of Mobile; four sisters - Marie Sauter, Annie Akridge, Betty Gartman and Dinah Werneth; two brothers - Edward Horton and Carlton Horton; and eight grandchildren. Serenity Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Serenity Memorial Gardens."
