OTTUMWA — Myrtle E. Jordan Carlson, 92, of 1050 W. Third St., died at 3:10 p.m. November 21, 2013 at home.
She was born October 8, 1921 in Fairfield to Ralph and Vergie Sinclare Adler.She married Clarence E.Jordan on November 18, 1937. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1978. She then married Junior Carlson in 1987.He preceded her in death July of 1993.
Myrtle worked for many years at Jefferson Square Manor until it closed. She then worked for Ottumwa Manor until she retired in 1991 at the age of 70.
Myrtle loved to listen to country music and in her day, going to the dances. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Marie Smith, Shirley Denham and Sondra Breuklander all of Ottumwa; two sons, Butch (Kathy) Jordan, Bob (Deb) Jordan both of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Ware of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Otis and Dorothy Jordan; a daughter, Louise Schmelzenbach; son-in-law, Gary Smith; four grandchildren, DeWayne Jacobs, Gidget Jordan, Connie Jo Smith and Gary Smith Jr.; two sisters, Caroline Robertson, Mildred Jackson and a brother, Gerald Adler.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Danny Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
