Jacob "Knipper" and Maria Painter were married on 15 April 1875 in Licking County, Ohio. The couple were enumerated in 1900, 1910, and 1920 in Marion, Grant County, Indiana, where Jacob Knepper worked as a carpenter and building contractor. The couple had no children.
