Alex Tribune, Friday, July 31, 1931: "Death of Mrs. Sizemore - Mrs. Will Sizemore died at her home in Alex Thursday morning at 3:30 o'clock after an illness caused from what was thought to have been an insect bite on her lip. For the last week her condition had been serious and no hopes were held out by the attending physician. She suffered greatly and was unconscious much of the time the last few days. She was converted during the recent meeting at the Missionary church but was too ill to be baptized at the close of the meeting. The funeral services were held at the Missionary Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. Eugene Foster and burial was made in the Morris Cemetery east of Alex. She is survived by her husband and 8 children one baby 10 months old, her mother and step father Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Lancaster, three half brothers and 1 half sister. Relatives attending the funeral from out of this community were: Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wilson and child from Tucumcari, New Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lancaster, Sterling, Okla., Mrs. Belle Milligan, Duncan and Mrs. Mary Kelly, Rush Springs. Everyone extends sympathy to this family in the loss of their wife and mother."

Note: The "accepted" family spelling is SYZEMORE; however, you will find the family sometimes listed as "Sizemore" also.

Bertha Syzemore's obit confirms her burial in the Alex Cemetery but her grave location is unknown and no original stone was found for her in the cemetery.

A memorial stone was set for Bertha Syzemore in the Alex Cemetery on September 17, 2014, by Tim and Nancy Murray. The stone was placed beside Bertha's mother and step-father, Nora and Thomas Lancaster in Section 1 South, where she is most likely buried.

February 2017 - A funeral record from the Brown-Christian Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK has been found by Thressa Bland which indicates that Bertha "Sizemore" was buried in the Ninnekah Cemetery. More clarification is being done to confirm which cemetery she may actual have been buried in since her obit clearly states the "Morris Cemetery". Her stone in the Alex Cemetery will remain there, as a memorial stone only, because it is with her mother and step-father.
