ERNEST J. MCNAMARA, Rites Held
Ernest J. McNamara, a well-known Winterset farmer, died at his home here last Sunday, November 3, 1974. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. McNamara was born in Des Moines on June 26, 1897, the son of P. M. and Ella Burke McNamara. He had lived in Madison County for the past 66 years.
Mr. McNamara was married to Marguerite Beam at Denver, Colorado in 1925.
A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Winterset, Mr. McNamara was a former director of the farmers Co-op Elevator Association of Winterset, was a former president of the Lakeview Country Club, and was a former trustee of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; a son, Michael J. McNamara of Winterset, and daughter, Mrs. W. J. (Katherine) Monaghan of Chicago, Illinois. Also surviving are two grandchildren, four step-granddaughters, and six step-great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by a sister, Mary McNamara of Winterset.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. this Tuesday, November 5 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset, with Father John Hart officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
A Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Collins Funeral Home.
