Chester E. Pfishner, age 88 of Croton, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Chet was born on November 16, 1925 in Boyne City to Albert and Bessie (Phillips) Pfishner and later married Jackie Schmiedeknecht on June 30, 1950 in Scottville. Chet has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area where he had worked at the Newaygo Foundry and later retired from Fruit Packers in Scottville where he had been a machine operator. Chet was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. Chet enjoyed fishing, camping, deer hunting, watching western movies and spending time with his family.

Chet is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jackie of Newaygo; his children, Diane (Dan) Nelson of Croton; Chester (Joni) Pfishner of Elkhart, Indiana; Robin Cook of Newaygo; Kimberly Goins of White Cloud; Rocky Pfishner of Croton; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Chet was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Pfishner Cook in 2012 and by 1 sister and 3 brothers.
