Ref: Manchester Press, Manchester, IA, 17 Jan. 1946 - Pioneer of Hopkinton Dies at His Home -- Robert Gray, who was born on a ship at sea when his parents were enroute to America from Ireland, July 4, 1850, died at his home here Jan. 1, 1946, aged 95 years. At the age of two, he came here and later attended the red brick school in the building now owned by Chas. Thing. Later he was married to Miss Elizabeth Huggins of Hopkinton at Manchester. They were the parents of six children: John M., James F. Robert, Mary Jane, Joseph W. and Elizabeth. Mrs. Gray died 51 years ago. He later married Miss Etta Boyles and one son, Jess, was born.

Survivors are three sons: James and Robert and Joseph, the latter of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mary Jane Ball, of Puente, CA; and one brother, Joseph, of Pukwana, S.D.

Ref: Robert Gray is listed as born in 1850 but I am positive that he was born in 1858 after reviewing the census records.
