Samuel Dexter Bain, a Prominent merchant of Pomona, died at his home Wednesday at 9:30 o'clock of heart trouble. Mr. Bain suffered a severe heart attack while in his store. He was taken to the family living rooms at the rear end of the store where he died shortly afterwards.

He was born in the state of Indiana November 6, 1854. In 1879 he was married to Miss Emma E. Taylor of Bethany, Mo., and to this union six children were born. In the year 1883 the family moved on a farm near Seward, Nebr., and resided there until 1902 when they came to Pomona where they have since lived. Mr. Bain united with the United Brethren church at Seward in 1885 and lived a faithful consistent Christian life, and was an active worker in the church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Etta R. Ward, of Plover, Iowa; Mrs. Pearl Cobb of Elk City, Okla., Miss Iva Bain of Pomona, one son A. F. Bain of Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Pomona at 1 :30 o'clock Saturday afternoon and were conducted by the Rev, Howard Peters of West Plains.

Burial was made in the Mackey cemetery.
