Roger Chubby R. Riddell Sr., of Halifax, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was 80 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne F. (DeYoung) Riddell and the loving father of June Collins of New York, Jean Beatty of Halifax, Jane Wright and her husband Jim of Halifax, and Roger Riddell of Quincy. He was the son of the late John and June (Dowler) Riddell and the devoted brother of the late Florence Flossie, John Buddy, Robert, Frank, James, and Harold Dolly. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Chubby was born in Hanson and served in the US Navy from 1952 - 1956. For over 40 years he worked for Lite Control. He was a devoted Patriots Fan who was proud of his Man Cave. He was a member of the Hanson Athletic Association and the American Legion. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 17, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St., (Rte. 58) Hanson. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am in the funeral home with burial to follow in Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
