Thomas Borders died overseas - there is another memorial for him (# 56245741), at the North Africa American Cemetery and Memorial, in Tunisia.

He was an aviation cadet in the Air Corps, enlisting 7-12-1941; rank First Lieutenant, combat organization: 414th Bomber Squadron 97th Bomber. He received: Purple Heart Medal, Air Medal, and other Army awards.

In 1946, the State Department changed his "Missing" status to a "finding of death."
