Former Holbrook farmer retired from PENNDOT
Raymond C. Yoders, 96, of Washington, formerly of Holbrook, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2003, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, North Franklin Township, following a lengthy illness.
He was born January 3, 1907, in Aleppo Township, Greene County, a son of John Ott and Clara Tedrow Yoders.
Mr. Yoders attended the former Quiet Dell Church.
Prior to moving to Washington in 1981, he had been a resident of Aleppo Township and Bristoria areas all his life.
Mr. Yoders was a self-employed farmer all his working life and also was self-employed in the timber business for many years by several area timber companies. He was last employed as a laborer with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 10 years prior to his 1967 retirement.
He enjoyed horses and time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His wife, Laura Mildred Yoders, died December 18, 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Geraldine Yoders of Washington, with whom he made his home since 1981; two sons, Richard E. Yoders of Holbrook and John E. Yoders of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Charles Lynn, Richard L., David E. Randy and John E. Yoders, Jr., Charlotte Thong and Robin Varner; two step-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Yoders was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are a son, Charles Yoders; a son and daughter who died in infancy; a brother, William Yoders; and a sister, Gaythel Riggs."
