Maureen L. "Moe" Toops, 58, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 A.M., Saturday, March 8, 2014, at her residence.

Maureen was born December 18, 1955, in Bethesda, Maryland, the daughter of Robert and Kathleen (Joyce) Vincent. On April 7, 1973, she married Vernon Toops in Annapolis, Maryland.

"Moe" was a member of the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, Illinois, a homemaker, a former employee of the Neoga News. She loved to bowl an she was a member of the Women's international Bowling Congress and she bowled for thirty years in the National Tournaments and also is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Neoga, Illinois.

She leaves her husband, Vernon Toops of Neoga, Illinois: three children, Patrick Christopher Toops and wife Kristi of Charleston, West Virginia; Michele Lyn Bierman and husband Brian of Casey, Illinois; and James Ryan Toops and wife Kara of Mattoon, Illinois: one brother, Joseph Vincent and wife Maria of Pasadena, Maryland; two sisters, Kathleen Vincent and Ann Vincent both of Germantown, Maryland; two sister-in-laws, Sue Vincent of Columbia, Maryland; and Sandy Luchtefeld and husband Paul of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Mother-in-law, Betty J. Toops of Neoga, Illinois; two brother in-laws, Phillip Toops and wife Rita of Effingham, Illinois; and Jay Logan Toops and wife Doreen of Rochester, New York; twelve grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Robert, Lawrence and John Vincent; her father-in-law, James J. Toops.

Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 13, 2014, in the St. Mary of The Assumption Church of Neoga, with Fr. Sunder Ery of Green creek, IL and Sr. Pat Thies of Effingham, IL officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 12, 2014, with a Parish Rosary at 7:30 P.M., Wednesday in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery, east of Neoga, IL.
