ROBERT EMMETT O'DONNELL

Robert Emmett O'Donnell, 87, of Elyria, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Atlanta on the way home from his winter home in Fort Myers, Florida. Bob was born in Elyria on November 6, 1926 and lived here all of his life.

He attended Notre Dame University then served as a Navy Corpsman and graduated from John Carroll in 1950. He was a member of St. Mary Church in Elyria and St. Columbkille Church in Fort Myers, where he sang in the choir. Bob was a part owner of O'Donnell Paint and Wallpaper and retired from General Felt Industries. A Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus he served as a past Grand Knight. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, Elyria Catholic Dad's Club, the Elks, Moose and Spring Valley Country Club. He was member of the Christian Family Movement since 1956.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Margaret (Mime) (nee Birkbeck); five sons, Kevin (Cynthia) of Huron, Brian (Jean Ann) and Patrick, both of Elyria, Tim (Stacey) of Austin, Texas and Tom (Jill) of Roswell, Georgia; seven daughters, Maureen (Tom) Hintz of Buda, Texas, Colleen (Rick) Kralisz of Middleburg, Florida, Mary Ellen (Mari) (Jeff) Cable of Ocala, Florida, Meganne (Mark) Boyer of Sylvania, Ohio, Kitty (Steve) Stark of Elyria, Ann (Doug) Lang of Greensboro, North Carolina and Kerry (Scott) McMillen of North Ridgeville; two sisters, Bernice Pinelli of Sonoma, California and Rosemary Kelleher of Sylvania, Ohio; 30 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorianne in 1956; three brothers, Edward, Alfred and Bernard; and his parents, Alfred and Bernice (nee Schnitzer) O'Donnell.

Friends will be received the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Charles Diedrick, Pastor, officiating (please meet at the church). Burial, with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079, will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
