He was born to Otto and Leila Parsons-Lommel on March 25, 1911.

Alexander Charles Lommel Mar. 25, 1911 ~ Dec. 15, 2009 Resident of Walnut Creek Alex passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday morning after 98 years of serving others. He was the oldest living Native Son of the Golden West, Napa Parlor, and a long time Rotarian. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: daughters Estelle Ledger and Andriette McGoran, grandchildren Debra & Rick Ledger, Craig & Brad McGoran, two great-grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alex loved life, loved people & had a valiant "heart of gold." Everyone will miss his warm smile, his generous spirit, his honesty, his example, his homegrown tomatoes and biscotti.

A vigil service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Walnut Creek - Mt. Diablo Blvd., Mon., Dec. 21 at 6pm. Viewing will be at 5:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Calistoga, 901 Washington St., Tues., Dec. 22 at 11am. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, St. Helena, with a reception at the church hall to follow.

The family especially wishes to thank the care giving women of Visiting Angels, Chris & Dora, his physician, Dr. Martin Braker, and the many neighbors & friends who helped whenever a need arose. Donations may be made to the Walnut Creek Rotary International Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers.
