"Mrs. Lou E. Flint was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, November 8, 1842. She was married on March 20. 1864, to Milton L. Crail, who died in 1866. March 28, 1883, she was married to T. J. Flint. Her death occurred August 27, 1903.

Mrs. Flint came to Barton county in April, 1872, and settled on the homestead in South Bend township where she has made her home ever since, and was therefore one of the very early settlers in Barton county. She was the oldest of nine children, all of whom survive her. Three children, Edward M., Cora B. and Ernest R. Crail, survive her and were with her at the last. In 1854 she joined the Methodist church and has lived a consistent life ever since. She was resigned to death and was willing and ready to go.

Funeral services were held on Sun day afternoon, August 30, at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Hestwood."
