Quad City Times - Services for Harold W. Angstrom, 78, of 1445 W. 16th St., Davenport, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society
Mr. Angstrom died Tuesday at Davenport Medical Center.
He had been employed at Illinois-Iowa Blacktop, Rock Island, before retirement.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 548, Walcott; Military Order of Purple Heart; and International Laborers Union.
Survivors include a brother, Edwin Angstrom, Davenport, and a niece and nephew.

The Purple Heart has been awarded to Sgt. Harold W. Angstrom for wounds received in action against the Japanese on Luzon, in the Philippines. He was wounded near the town of Palina on La Union province, where his unit was operating as part of the drive on the summer capital of the Philippines.
Sgt. Angstrom, whose Davenport address is 513 1/2 Warren street, has also been awarded the combat infantryman's badge for exemplary conduct in action against the enemy. Before entering the army Feb. 20, 1942, he was engaged in farming and construction work here.

The announcement of his promotion was received by the youth while he was in the hospital at the station.
