SALEM — Emma A. Cary, 96, formerly of Salem, passed away Thursday morning, March 13, 2014, at The Orchard Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Granville.

Born Jan. 9, 1918, in West Hebron, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Agnes (Scott) Cary.

Emma was a 1938 graduate of Salem Washington Academy and worked at CA Baltz Shirt Co. in Salem as a floor supervisor for many years. Emma also baby-sat for many families in Salem while she worked at the shirt company.

Emma loved to play bingo and go to the Washington County Fair every year. She had a green thumb and could nurse plants back to health. Emma also loved flowers and helped many people in the Salem area when she was a resident of the village.

When Emma lived in Salem, she attended Salem United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Chella Cary and brothers Charlie and Elmer Cary.

Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
