Ethel Marie Shepherd, 94, formerly of Walnut, died Saturday, Feb. 12, at Colonial Manor in Anita. The daughter of Fred and Nora Howell Adams, she was born Oct. 30, 1899, in
Cumberland and was united in marriage to Ralph Shepherd Nov. 1, 1917, in Atlantic. They farmed in Cass County and moved to Walnut in the late 1940s. Her husband died July 3, 1970. and Mrs. Shepherd lived in her own home until moving to Peace Haven in Walnut in 1985. She became a resident of Colonial Manor in May 1989. Surviving are a son. Warren of San Leandro, Calif., and his wife, Lois; seven grandchildren, James Shepherd, Michael Shepherd, William Shepherd and Janice McCown of Oregon and her husband, Steve; Janet Selim of Creston and her husband, Don; Julie Foss of Washington State; and Joan Shepherd of Corning. Also surviving are two step-granddaughters, Carolyn Bryant of California; Sheryl Bryant of Nevada and her son, Logan; eight great-grandchildren, Heather, Jason, Christina and Amanda Shepherd; and Crystal McCown, all of Oregon; Stephanie and Robert Foss of Corning; and Jeanine Warrick of Elmira, N. Y.; a great-great-grandson, G. Parker Warrick of Elmira; a daughter-in-law, Leora Shepherd of Atlantic; a sister, Hallie Keith, of Centralia, Wash.; a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Roger; her parents; two sisters, Nellie Shepherd and Hazel McGrath; two brothers, Roy and Floyd Adams; three grandsons, Douglas, Steven and David Shepherd. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Roland Funeral Home, with Orris Drake of Walnut officiating.
