Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Edith M. Martin, 83, of La Jolla and Holtville, who died Friday in Evergreen Convalescent Hospital in La Jolla.

Church services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Cornerstone Community Church in Holtville. Pastor David Strong will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Peoria, Ill.

She married O.E. Martin in Illinois on Sept. 21, 1935. They were married for 67 years.

The Martins moved to El Centro in 1949 and settled in Holtville in 1950, where Mrs. Martin lived until relocating to San Diego in 1998 for health reasons.

According to family, she was a loving wife and wonderful mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.E. Martin, in 1997; and son, Terry E. Martin in 2000.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Pat Martin of San Diego and El Centro; son, Jim Martin of San Diego and El Centro; daughter-in-law, Marguerite Martin of El Centro; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests donations to Cornerstone Community Church, 125 6th St,. Holtville, CA 92250.
