Memorial Services for Cloyce Daniel Bennett, 78, of Weslaco, Texas will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with David Lough officiating.
Cloyce was born on October 3, 1935 in Brownfield, Texas to Marshall Hillred and Mabel Pauline (Lee) Bennett and passed away on March 1, 2014 in Welasco.TX. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1954 and from Abilene Christian College in 1959 with a degree in Finance. On January 16, 1965 Cloyce married Kathryn (Sandford) Bennett in Lovington, NM. They were blessed with two children, Marsha Hillary on June 30, 1969 and Courtney D'Aun on September 28, 1973. Cloyce lived in several places in Texas before settling in Weslaco, TX in August of 1977. He was vice president of the Magic Valley Savings and Loan Association, a member of the Lions Club and in the 1990's retired from the Savings and Loan Industry. He enjoyed quail hunting, deer hunting, target shooting, gun collecting and reloading. He was an excellent pool player and a member of a pool team at "Snow to Sun RV Park" that won the valley wide competition several years in a row. He had an active social life and enjoyed playing cards with his friends and was also well known for his Pico de Gallo and beans, as he loved to cook. He traveled to Argentina in 2007 with his son-in-law Atilla Onan and good friend Joe Kious to go bird hunting. Cloyce never said anything unkind, untrue or harsh to anyone or about anyone and never missed a single dance recital, pep rally or competition performance or game for his girls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his nephew: Jerry Lynch, and his in-laws: Claude and Irma Sanford.
He is survived by two daughters: Hillary and husband Atilla Onan of Austin, TX and Courtney Marks of Round Rock, TX; two granddaughters: Avery Onan of Austin, TX and Kaitlyn Marks of Round Rock, TX; two sisters: Charlotte Lynch and Colleen Kimbell of Lovington, NM and two nephews: David Lynch of Lovington and Bennett Kimbell of Lubbock, TX; one niece: Lynettte Lough of Canyon, TX
Cloyce's quick wit, kind heart and countless sayings will be missed as he was the most gentle, kind person anyone could ever have known.
