Eliza A. Barnett, 42 years, 8 months and 19 days of age, departed this life on Wednesday, August 29th, 1888. Eliza was born on Saturday, January 10th, 1846, daughter of Judge J.M. Barnett and Ellen Barnett.
In early life she professed Christianity and united with the Baptist Church at Stanford, Kentucky, subsequently removing her membership to Flat Lick in Pulaski County, Kentucky, and since her profession she has been one of the most earnest workers for the Lord. She was not as the one who hid his light under a bushel, but she ever had her lamps trimmed and burning, casting a most brilliant light on the wayward sinner.
In her death the Church lost one of it's best members, the community it's best friend, and to the father, mother, brother, sister and niece, it is an irreparable loss; but our loss is her eternal gain.
Her last words were: "I am going home" Oh! it is such a consolation to her bereaved friends to know that she had the full assurance of reaching that home where there is neither sickness nor death.
Funeral services were held at the Flat Lick Church in Pulaski County, Kentucky, with Rev. J.T. Barrett officiating. Her sacred form was laid to rest in the cemetery near the Church, there to await the coming of Christ in His Glory.
THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF ELIZA,
We shall sleep,
But not forever,
There will be a glorious dawn,
We shall meet to part,
no never,
On the resurrection morn.
