James Patterson

James Cleveland Patterson, 80 of Greenville, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Celeste, Texas on October 28, 1933, James was the son of Albert Lynn Patterson and Eunice Mae Adamson. On October 26, 1957, he married Mary Lynn Marion in Greenville at Kavanaugh Methodist Church. He served his country in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and owner of Patterson Cleaners in Greenville for 37 years, retiring in 1997. James attended Celeste, Kingston and Hogeye schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard, gardening and having coffee with the "Coffee Bunch".

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Patterson of Greenville; daughters, Tracie Bjorkgren of Garland, Page Barker and husband, Donnie of Greenville and Jamie Cox and husband, Tyson of Greenville; grandchildren, Brandon Barker and wife, Ericha, Brynn Barker, Alan Bjorkgren, Kellen Cox, Riley Cox and Chandler Cox; great-grandchildren, Jaida, Eve, John and Max Barker; brother-in-law, Frank Marion and wife, Billye; nephew, Kip Marion; and niece, Kim Powell and husband, Michael. James was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gloria Green and nephew, Kyle Green.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Brown, Donnie Barker, Tyson Cox, Frank Marion, Brandon Barker, Kellen Cox, Riley Cox, Chandler Cox and Alan Bjorkgren. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Wright, Bobby Trad, Steve Ramsey, Mike Speight, Jerry Mainord, Joe Leonard, John Overton, Cody Mauldin and Ronnie Lamb.
