PRINCETON - Robert Milton Krase, 94, Princeton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Liberty Village of Princeton. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at First United Presbyterian Church in Princeton.He was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Surrey, (Galesburg), to Herman and Martha (Schroeder) Krase. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1937. He worked for the CB&Q Railroad and then he served in the U.S. Army during World War II (1942-45) in France and England as a communication specialist. Upon his discharge, he attended Coyne College in Chicago and earned a degree for electrical work. Bob worked for Illinois Power in Wood River and Hennepin as a supervisor for 34 years. He married Emma Weigand on Oct. 27, 1948, in Rock Island.Bob enjoyed woodworking, reading, maintained a daily journal for many years, and traveled/camped throughout much of the United States and Canada, often playing his harmonica around the campfire. He also played accordion and had a fine tenor voice that he shared in the Presbyterian Church choir where he was an active member. He and Emma kept a running tally for cribbage for many years, using the board he made. He always had a joke to bring about a laugh or smile from others.Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emma Krase of Princeton. Also surviving are three daughters, Carolyn (R.J.) Burns of Dickinson, N.D., and Cheryl Krase and Kathleen Krase, both of Princeton; and two grandchildren, Emily and Austin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank (Eileen) Krase and Arthur (Margie) Krase; and two sisters, Gladys (Leon) Bondi and Marguerite Krase.
