Elsie Caroline Beyer was born in Richmond, Indiana on March 3, 1896, the daughter of prominent Richmond Businessman and German immigrant, Matthew J VonPein. Her mother, Sophia C Knauber, died shortly after childbirth. She married Carl A Beyer on Oct 11, 1916. Elsie bore three children, two that survived. She was divorced from Carl Beyer on Oct 13, 1939. Her entire life, she worked as a child care nurse (now called nanny). A lifelong member of St John's Lutheran Church in Richmond, she was a loving, caring, Christian woman.
