Funeral services for Alden McElrath, 85, former director of the Alameda County Probation Department, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. from Albert Brown Mortuary, 3476 Piedmont Aver., Oakland. A native of Oakland, Mr. McElrath died Tuesday in Oakland. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oakland, Berkeley SIRS, Thousand Oaks Lodge No. 479, F & AM, and had served as a past board member of the Salvation Army. He is survived by two daughters, Mary McElrath Corlett and Innes M. Melton; a son, Alden McElrath Jr.; two sisters, Phoebe McElrath and Kathryn Black; a brother, Clifford McElrath; and 12 grandchildren. Contributions in his memory may be made to a favorite charity.
