When 13 years of age he moved with his parents to Manchester, Iowa, and remained there 3 years. When 16 he started out in the world to work for himself. He learned the carpenter trade and worked at it the greater part of his life. When 30 he came to Elpaso, Pierce co. WI., where he ran a saw mill 5 years for Thomas McGee. During this time he was united in marriage to Maggie Hughes of Brookville, St. Croix, co WI. in the year 1869. They moved to Tyrone, Wi., where he worked 4 years in a wagon shop for Hamilton Hubbard, then moved on his farm one mile south of Tyrone where he lived 19 years. He then sold his farm and moved his family to Downing, WI. where he lived 10 years and worked in a wagon making shop. He then moved his family to Weston, WI. where he was living when death claimed him. 2 children born, Willie, deceased, and Mrs. Maude Boe of Weston, daughter. He was a devoted husband and father. Surviving are his wife, daughter Maude, of Weston,a brother Earl Hooker of Eau Claire, grandson and 2 great grandchildren, brother George Hooker of Manchester, Iowa, friends and neighbors. Funeral services at the residence, interment Weston Cemetery.
