Emily Jane, wife of Rev J G Johnson, of the Alabama Conference, was born July 30th, 1845, and departed this life, at Logan, Ala, May 29, 1887. Her last sickness began May 22nd lasting one week. Through all her intense suffering she uttered no word of complaint. She received every attention that kind friends and neighbors could bestow, but gradually sunk under her disease till on Sunday the 29th, about noon, she quietly ceased to breathe. Sister Johnson was an earnest Christian, and a devoted itinerant's dive. During the progress of her disease she several times gave strong evidence of the sustaining power of the Christian religion. Those who knew her mourn not as those without hope. She leaves a devoted husband and five children, who now deeply mourn their loss.
