GALESBURG - Robert W. Boyden, 82, formerly of Sheffield, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Galesburg Terrace, where he was a resident. Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Sheffield to Albert W. and Jean Scott Boyden, he married Gwen Gunther in 1941 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, William of Kansas City, Mo., and Scott of Galesburg; one daughter, Rebecca Boyden Pschirrer of Rockford; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and one granddaughter. He was an Army infantry veteran, serving five years in the European Theater and attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. He graduated from Knox College in 1941. He worked at Sheffield Farmers State Bank for more than 40 years, retiring as president in 1987. He was a member of Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and Hidden Lake Country Club, all in Sheffield. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
