Fred Orr, 77, died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. James Ralston living at 424 S. Park this city on Thursday, December 18. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and one daughter.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Wilson Funeral Chapel and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

His son Charles "Mike" Orr of Glendale, California, and his brother Jess of El Monte, California, came to Eagle Grove for the services. They returned Monday evening.

Fred had lived in Eagle Grove for 57 years and was employed by the C. & N. W. for 17 years, retiring from that service at the age of 70. He had been in failing health of late years.

Out of town people who attended the funeral of Mr. Orr were Charles Orr and Jess Orr of Glendale, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Orr, Roger Orr, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Orr, Boone; Tom Orr and None Thorn, Truman, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shaw, Hampton; Lottie Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones and two sons of Fort Dodge.

John Frederick Orr, son of John and Mary Wilcox Orr was born at Mankato, Minnesota on March 15, 1870 and passed away at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. James Ralston, in Eagle Grove on December 18, 1947. At the time of his death he was 77 years, nine months, and three days of age.

Mr. Orr, Fred as he was best known, spent most of his life in Eagle Grove. On December 20, 1895, he was united in marriage to Cora May Williams, the ceremony taking place at Marshalltown, Iowa. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters, one of the daughters passing away soon after birth. Along with his wife, the two sons and one daughter survive. The sons, Clarence J. of Boone, Ia., and Charles L. of Glendale, Calif. The address of the daughter, Marie, is unknown. There are eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren surviving besides six brothers and one sister. They are Charles and Bert of Eagle Grove, Tom of Truman, Minn., Jess of El Monte, Calif., Frank of Midland, S. D., and Lewis of Newark, N. J,, and Mrs. Jennie Nichols of Oakland, Calif.

After Mr. and Mrs. Orr were married, almost their entire life was spent in Eagle Grove, for many years Mr. Orr was a tiling contractor, and for seventeen years he was employed by the Chicago and North Western, retiring from their services when he was seventy years of age.

Mr. Orr was a friendly man, a good husband, and father, and will be greatly missed by his family as well as a great number of friends.

Services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Wilson's Chapel with Rev. H. G. Dawes officiating and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.
