Don was born on June 12, 1927 in Alva, Ok, and had been a resident of Lake Jackson, TX since 1954. He passed away peacefully at his home on March 1, 2014.

Following his service in the Army Air Corps, he was educated at Northwest Oklahoma State University, and completed a masters degree in biochemistry at Oklahoma State University before beginning work at Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, TX in the early 1950s. He was one of the first electron microscopists for the company.

He had many interests over the years, including 60 years of service with the Lions Club. An avid sailor, he was a founding member oof the Brazosport Yacht Club, and participated as a crew member in many races, including competitive runs across the Gulf of Mexico to Veracruz and Pensacola.

He and his wife, Lois, always enjoyed travel, whether camping trips across the US in a VW van, or later on jet planes across the ocean.

A loving husband and father, he supported interestes of his family by working with horses and a donkey, as well as building and maintaining musical instruments.
