WALTER C AYERS, 84, DIES AT NIECE'S HOME
Pittsfield, Aug. 19 - The funeral for Walter C Ayers, 84, retired tool maker and farmer, who died last night at the home of his niece, Mrs Ellen Drake, 65 Sunset avenue, will be held at Wellington funeral home, 220 East street, Thursday afternoon at 1. Burial will be in East cemetery at Rowe.
Born in Hawley, August 12, 1857, Mr Ayers lived in this city 12 years. For a long time he was engaged in farming at Rowe and Deerfield. He moved in 1918 to Greenfield where he entered the employ of Goodell, Pratt company, toolmakers and designers. He retired in 1927, and came to Pittsfield two years later.
Survivors are two daughters, Miss Vina C Ayers of Springfield and Mrs A. L. Perham of Meridan, Ct., also three grandchildren and one niece, Mrs Drake, with whom he lived.
