Hazel Newsom-Fry of Buena Vista, passed away Feb. 9, 2014, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Salida.

Hazel was born Jan. 26, 1918 in Cedaredge to Lawrence and Margaret (Wetterich) Blossom. She graduated from Cedaredge High School and attended Blair's Business School in Colorado Springs.

She married H. H. "Jerry" Newsom in Eckert Sept. 10, 1937. After World War II, they moved to Buena Vista where they raised their three daughters. Hazel was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She loved her flowers and would often be outside tending to her flowers, especially her roses.

After Jerry's death in June 1986 she married Ernie Fry September 1997 in Buena Vista and had several years where they would divide their time between Buena Vista, Wichita, Kan. and Apache Junction, Ariz.

Hazel was preceded in death by both husbands, granddaughter Teri Confer and brother Wayne Blossom.

She is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and four nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Congregational United Church of Christ. Arrangements by Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home
