She was a native of Lake Charles and had been a longtime resident of Sulphur. Althea was a very active and devoted member of St. Theresa Catholic Church where she served as a church secretary and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing and canning, and donated many of her home canned goods every year to the convent in New Orleans.
Survivors include her nephews and niece; brother and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Pitre; her parents, Charles and Lenora Davies; and siblings, Lucille Pearce, Vivian Neil [Vivienne Neal], and Yancy Davies.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 5, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Aquino will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
