Flora is the tenth of fourteen children born to Alpha Loader Jaques and Amy Eliza Ricks. She married Leffel Addison Bean on June 6, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His first wife had died the year before leaving three children. Flora and Leffel began parents to a daughter, Helen, in June 1924. She died a month later, never having left the hospital. The baby survived and was raised by her sister, Constance.
