Born at Thornton on June 19, 1940, he was the son of Leonard O. and Mary V. O'Leary Anderson. He was manager of the Des Moines Agency in Winterset and formerly was an auto salesman at Reed Motors and Kirkland Motors.
Mr. Anderson had been a resident here for 15 years, coming from Lincoln, Neb. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, played men's fastpitch softball from 1959-1980, helped and followed girls' softball from 1977-1985 and was elected to the Winterset Softball Association Hall of Fame this year. He was a veteran of the Air Force.
On June 22, 1963, Mr. Anderson was married to Helen D. Borzych at St. Paul, Neb.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Gregory of Des Moines, Steven and Derek, both of Winterset; a daughter, Paula of Winterset; sisters, Mary Lou Pals of Sheffield and Darlene Popp of Des Moines; his mother; and two grandchildren.
