Dr. Elbert E. Cable
Funeral services for Dr. Elbert E. Cable, a retired Portland physician who died Wednesday at Seaside, will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Edward Holman & Son funeral home, followed by private committal at Portland Memorial mausoleum. Rev. W.W. Youngson will officiate. Dr. Cable was born May 16, 1869, at Ft. Worth, Kan. He was graduated from the University of Oregon medical school and McMinnville college and practiced medicine in Portland 50 years.

During World War I he was head of the public health service in Portland. He organized the war veterans bureau in Oregon, Washington and Idaho prior to the building of the veterans hospitals.

He was honorary member of the Oregon State Medical society, and a member of Portland lodge No. 55, AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Al Kader Temple of the Shrine, IOOF and Royal Arcanum.

He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Inez S. Cable, 1935 E. Burnside street; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Lenore Welch, Hubbard and Mary Patricia Cable, Portland; a brother L.E. Cable, Tacoma, and two grandchildren.
