Harriette Low Arnold, age 83, of Cumming, GA, passed away January 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Robert (Bob) M. Arnold, in 2001.

Harriette is survived by her children; Holly and Dave Deckebach, Keith and Trish Arnold, Tim and Dani Arnold, and Laura Arnold Jordan and David Jordan, and 9 grandchildren; Daniel, Adele, Brianna, Derek, Tyler, Austin, Connor, Murphy, and Andrew.

Harriette was born in Atlanta, GA on June 15, 1929, the middle of five children. She spent most of her childhood and all her adult life in and around Atlanta, GA. She was part of the final graduating class at Girls High School of Atlanta in 1947 where she was president of the student body and class valedictorian. Harriette and Bob married on Thanksgiving afternoon, November 24, 1949 at Inman Park Methodist Church. Harriette stayed home with her children until 1979 when she became the office manager of her husband’s dental practice. She and her husband were very active members of their church. At the time of her death, she was a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church. Harriette was known for sitting in the back of the church where visitors sat. She would greet every visitor with a warm smile and friendly greeting, and immediately make them feel at home. Harriette always told her children that when it came right down to it, Christianity was simple, “it was all about love and forgiveness,” which she lived out every day.

The family will receive visitors at McDonald & Son Funeral Home on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cumming First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The family will begin receiving visitors at the church at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Harriette requested that donations be made to Cumming First United Methodist Church for the Youth and Children’s Ministries.
