REXBURG - Johanna B. Peterson, 85, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died July 12 in an Idaho Falls hospital of causes incident to age.
She was born February 29, 1884 in Oberstenfeld, Wurttemberg, Germany, daughter of Jacob Wilhelm Bauerle and Catharine Susanna Knapp. She came to the United States with her parents in 1892. They were converts to the LDS Church and settled in Rexburg, later moving to Portland, Oregon. She was married in 1904 to John R. Peterson in Idaho Falls.
They lived at Sugar City for 20 years then moved to Salt Lake City. She was active in the LDS Church.
Her husband died October 20, 1941 in Elko, Nevada.
She is survived by children: Dr. C. Peterson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Ralph (Virginia) Druehl of Elko, Nevada; Dr. Gerald Peterson, Louisville, Kentucky; Mrs. Frank (Norma) Garn, Sugar City; Mrs. Bernell (Zona) Murdock of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Kofahl, Santa Rosa, California; seventy grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in the Teton LDS Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, with Bishop Arden Stewart conducting. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
