His first wife was Dessie Odell Fink who died in Colbert in 1961 after they divorced. Dessie then married Earl Gillespie. Claude then married Ida Mae Poindexter in 1937 at Altus, Oklahoma.
When he registered for the WWI Draft he claimed his middle name was Weldon.
