Mark E. Austin, 54, of Hagerstown, Maryland (formerly of Walkersville), passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at University of Maryland Hospital.

Born September 19, 1959 in Orange City, FL, he was the son of the late Patricia Wilson Goldsberry and the late James Austin.

Mr. Austin was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church and the American Legion in Mt. Airy.

Mark served his country in the US Army and was an explosive ordnance technician.

He was employed as an OSHA Inspector for the Federal Government, Safety and Health Administration for 30+ years.

He was an avid golfer and Washington Redskin fan.

He is survived by two daughters Samantha Austin and fiancé Alan Zarek of Stanley, Virginia and Rebecca Austin of Walkersville, MD, step-children Michael and Jenna Harrison, his siblings Misi Thornton and husband Keith of GA, Marla Austin of OK, Linda Starr of KS and Jenny Bates of CA and a niece Ansley Thornton.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD, Thursday, March 6, from 2-4 and 7-9pm where services will be held Friday, March 7, at 10:00 am with Msgr. Richard Murphy officiating.

Interment Glade Cemetery, Walkersville, MD.
