He was born July 28, 1931 in Monroe County, West Virginia a son of the late John Elmer Hinkle and Myrtle McNeil Hinkle.
He was retired from McLean Trucking Company and a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Korean War and a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Lute was a Blacksmith and loved to shoe horses for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Latham Hinkle of the home; three daughters, Sylvia Lannertone (Jon) of High Point, Karen Hinkle of Kernersville and Lisa Disher (Rick) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Jordan Lingafelt, Justin Lingafelt (Cheri), Ansley Disher, Aron Disher and Anderson Disher. One sister, Ethel Burnett of Charleston, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
