Emilie M. (Grossman) Esmonde, 90, of Aquilla Village, died Feb. 20, 2014 suddenly at her home. Born Nov. 23, 1923 in Cleveland to Arthur and Jeanette (Jones) Grossman, she had been an area resident since 1951. She was a Sergeant with US Marine Corp., serving during WW II. Emilie was a homemaker and worked at The May Company in Mentor. In her later years, she became active in the Huntsburg and Pomona Granges, Geauga County Historical Society and the Geauga County Senior Center. Survivors include her sons, Les Esmond of Centerville, Va. and Gary Esmonde of Cleveland Heights; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Arthur(Donna) Grossman of Chardon and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester, Oct. 31, 1990, whom she married Nov. 23, 1946; sisters Marilyn Grossman, Nancy Miller and Marguerite Syfert-Hines. Friends may call from 5-8 pm on Monday Feb. 24, 2014 at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500 feet south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. Private family burial will take place.
