FLOYD RAY PICKERING Natchez-Graveside services for Floyd Ray Pickering, 83, of Natchez, who died September 13, 2013 at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Friday September 20, 2013 at the Natchez City Cemetery with Rev. John Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Laird funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home. Mr. Pickering was born December 17, 1929 at Bude to Daniel A. Pickering and Dollie Brister Pickering. He was a 1947 graduate of Natchez High School. After a tour of duty in the U. S. Navy as a radioman during the Korean War he joined Sears Robuck & Company, in the Natchez store. Mr. Pickering had many assignments in stores in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. After 35 years of service he retired from the Asheville, N C. store. He was a member of the Jefferson Street United Methodist Church and loved to travel and is looking forward to the journey now facing him. Mr. Pickering loved fishing and while in N C he taught his wife Dorothy to fish. He was a great teacher because Dorothy regularly out fished him. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy Pickering and one grandson, Reed Pickering. Survivors include his son, Daniel Pickering and wife, Carole both of Cupertino, C A; a number of nieces and nephews.
