American Revolution veteran:
Virginia Militia, Aug 1776. Served two months under Ensign Samuel Smith, Lt. Thomas Rancan, Lt. Colonel Penticost and Colonel Cannon. Stationed near Fort Pitt for two months under Captain Swearington at Mingo Bottom. In Jun 1778, served one month at Chartiers Creek. Served one month scouting on Montour Bottom, and one month under Captain Richey and Captain Scott. In Aug 1780, served again under Captain Swearington. Served again Mar 1782 as a scout under Lt. George Sharp.

Note:
Gavin Allison (who married Jean Wallace), long claimed as the father of Abner Allison (whose father is unknown), was actually a brother of John Allison who married Jean Brownlee. Gavin and John were sons of Gavin Allison the shoemaker of Strathaven, Scotland!
