McClintock was born in Maryland to Hugh and Rebecca Young. He was baptized on 7 Apr 1801 in Baltimore City, Maryland.

McClintock had [1st] Susan Bird (Newman) Young on 18 Sept 1832 in Frederick County, Maryland. Susan was the daughter of Col. Francis Newman.

In the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Censuses, McClintock and Josephine were living in Washington, DC.

"At Weston, .C., on Friday evening, September 21st, 1877, Josephine C. Young, widow of the late McClintock Young, and daughter of the late James H. Causten, of this city, in the 55th year of her age. Funeral will take place on Monday morning, at 10 o'clock from Trinity Church, Georgetown. Friends of the family are invited to attend."
