Anthony E. "Tony" Aden, 88, of Rockford, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in his home.

Born May 11, 1925, in Taylorville, Ill., the son of Anthony M. and Raymonde (Pernot) Aden.

Tony lived most of his life in Rockford, attending Rockford East High School class of 1944, where he was an avid sportsman and held the hi-jump record for many years.

Served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a sergeant.

He married Leona M. "Lee" Dahlberg Sept. 12, 1953, in St. Edward Catholic Church, Rockford.

Previous member of Blackhawk Field Archers. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, bow hunting, and in his later years took up golfing.

Tony worked at Globe Tool and his dad's shop, A & Z Plating and Finishing for 15 years, then Amerock Corp. for 26 years as a new products finishing coordinator, retiring in 1987.


He is survived by his wife, Leona "Lee"; daughters, Lori (Dr. Thomas) Michalsen of Rockford, Juli (Brian) Bracken of Roscoe, and Viki (Brett) Irwin of Rockford; son-in-law, Jim Spinelli of Amboy; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Donna) Aden; sister, Dinah Swanson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his daughter, Linda Spinelli; sister, Viola Sliktas; and brothers-in-law, Rodney Swanson and Alan Sliktas.
