Margaret Lee Abbott Ramsey, 87, of Bedford, Virginia, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Runk & Pratt, in Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Albert Harrison Ramsey. Born February 16, 1927, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Brown Abbott Sr. and Ollie Noell Abbott. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Carey Nelson Abbott, Lawrence Abbott Jr. and Winston Abbott. Margaret retired from the Bedford County Social Services; she was a member of the Jr. Women's Club and a member of Bedford Baptist Church. Margaret is survived by daughters, Pamela Ramsey Cooter, Susan Ramsey Newton and her husband, Mike; brothers, Ellis, Kenneth, and Kyle Abbott; sisters, Lucille Cowins, Doris Brizendine; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
