In 1925, Miss Blake began her career in the Cornell Grade school. In all of her years as teaching, she always had first grade students and after 1952, only taught first grade students. In the 36 years of teaching at Cornell, the first 34 years were in the same room.
In 1973 she stated “The glory of the teacher lies in his or her power to mold and shape young lives for worthy and useful citizenship. What greater calling? What greater challenge? Dare we fail?”
The writer of this bio on Miss Blake did have the opportunity and pleasure of having her as his first grade teacher.
