ARVIL BLANKENSHIP ADA-Services for Arvil Wayne Blankenship, 88, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Darrel Blankenship, Justin Blankenship and Robert Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Mr. Blankenship died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at a local nursing home. He was born December 25, 1925 at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Albert Andrew and Cassie Belle Bingham Blankenship. He attended school in the Galey community northwest of Ada. He married Loretta Mae Owens on October 8, 1971 in Ada. She preceded him in 2008. Mr. Blankenship was an elevator operator at Evergreen Mills in Ada until his retirement. He was a member The River Church, volunteered at nursing homes and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his children, Larry Blankenship and his wife Beverly of Pauls Valley, Brenda Stallings and her husband Scott of Byng, Darrel Blankenship and his wife Sharon of Crystal Springs, MS, and Terry Blankenship and his wife Mary Ann of Stratford; a brother, Ralph Blankenship and wife JoAnn, Muskogee; four sisters, Sue Brown, Enid, Nadine Cradduck and husband Leroy, Blanchard, and Joyce Paulson and husband David and Linda McCrea, all of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Juanita Wallis, Myrtle Garner and Mildred Patrick; a brother, Lee Blankenship; and a cousin whom was reared by his family, Roy Robertson. Bearers will be Scott Stallings, Justin Blankenship, Billy Blankenship, Eric Blankenship, Evan Stallings, and Jeffrey Blankenship. Honorary bearers will be Darrell Stallings, Ronnie York, Harry Crenshaw, Ken Butler and Richard Chronister. Obituaries may be viewed and online condolences sent to criswellfh.com.
