Husband of Virgie Lee "Price" Barker.
Father to two sons. Tom and Robert.


Mitchell Barker, was born April 6, 1922 to Tillie Hillard Barker and Mary Opra Armentrout of Christine in Atascosa Co., Texas. He died April 1, 2015 in Irving, Texas. Mitchell is Proceeded in death by his loving wife Virgie Lee Price Barker in 1997, and his son Robert William Barker in 2011. Left to carry on his memory are son Tom Hancock Barker of Newton Utah, grandchildren Shannon Renee Dowdy of Taylor, Texas, Mitchell William Barker and wife Kerrie of Keller, Texas; three great grandchildren Billy and Rebecca Restelle of Queen City, Texas, Nicole Barker of Lewisville, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Mitch earned the rank of Technical Sergeant in the Army Air Force for his service in the African-Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters during World War II. When he returned state side he worked for Braniff Airlines and then proudly retiring from American Airlines. For many years Mitch served as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts and was committed to the Baptist Benevolence Ministry, especially working in their food pantry. Mitch was also instrumental in assisting in the chartering of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church. He and his wife toured the United States with the Holiday Ramblers R.V. group. Mitch gladly served the Lord in any way he could. He delivered meals on wheels until his health started to decline. A special thanks to Bobbie and Marvin Randle and Kristi Pena for their excellent care of Mitch in his last few years. A testimony for the love of a fellow friend and Christian. Family will receive friends Monday April 6, 2015 from 10 am till 11 am at Oak View Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 11 am, Interment 1:30 pm, at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington TX, 76012. Memorial donations may be made to Faith & Future Fund at Oak View Baptist Church, 1004 S. Story Rd. Irving TX, 75060, or online at ovbc.net.
